Paul was a man consumed with a passion for God.

Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Matthew 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, [Thou] wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Philippians 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

The passions that will change us the most are those embraced by Jesus because no one has ever been more successful than He (He is our example). I want us to consider the Christ-like passions that can lead to our greatest God honoring and pleasing success in life. What passion do we need to embrace?

We should embrace the passion of:

I. INTEGRITY 2:3 & 10 “Was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile”

1Pe 2:21-22 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

II. THE ANOINTING 2:2 “Bold in our God” (see I Thess. 1:5)

Ac 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

III. OBEDIENCE TO GOD 2:4 “Pleasing God”

Joh 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Lu 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

IV. PERSONAL SOUL-WINNING 2:9 “We preached the gospel”

Pr 11:30 The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise.

V. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT 2:12 “Walk worthy of God”

Lu 2:46-47 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

Lu 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

1. Wisdom = mental, 2. stature = physical, 3. favor with God = Spiritual, & 4. favor with man = social. The divine influence upon the heart and its reflection in life.

Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

VI. MENTORING 2:8 “we willing to have imparted unto you . . . ourselves”

Joh 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

VII. MINISTRY TO OTHERS 2:7 “but we were gentle among you, even as a nurse”

Lu 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

VIII. VISION 2:1 “You know our entrance in unto you that it was not in vain”

Pr 29:18 Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.

What contributes to a godly vision?

A. PRAYER (Listening more than talking)

Pr 11:14 Where no counsel [is], the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors [there is] safety.

Pr 15:22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
